Carl Hayes was born in Dothan, Alabama, but grew up in Big Bear Lake, a weekend getaway town in the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California. He currently lives, works, and drinks beer in San Francisco. His work includes the self-published novel The New and Improving Thomas, first serialized online in 2005-2006, then in print in January 2007.
